Postmortem

Postmortem is from the Latin and literally means after death. It's come to mean the examination of a dead body. In this article, it applies in equal measure to Kamala Harris’s presidential aspirations, and my predictions last week—both went equally belly up. This is a pure Mia Culpa moment for me, I was poking around the dust and debris of current events, I thought I had this election figured out, and now, I’m searching the internet for crow recipes because I’ve got to eat that big, black sucker that hangs around the backyard. I’ve always been known as a contrarian who disliked going along with the program, and this time it bit me in the ass. The day before the election, I quoted P.J. O’Rourke who’d once said, Hillary Clinton, when she was running, was wrong about absolutely everything, but she’s wrong within normal parameters. Trump is outside the normal parameters on everything. I saw a direct correlation with Kamala Harris and was right, but the swing voters in the middle didn’t care, and voted for Trump anyway. MAGA and Progressives who were both about 30%, didn’t surprise anyone and voted exactly as expected. The 40% swing vote in the middle, who pollsters were having trouble reading, went solidly for Trump against most predictions. Exit polls said the middle voted on inflation, the border and “the state of our democracy”, a kind of a fuzzy concept that probably translates into a vote against DEI, elitists, green energy, late night comedians, Hollywood stars and their guilt trips, and a general disdain for blue collar people. Whoever they were, they gave Trump the popular vote win which nobody including Republicans expected. The pro-abortion vote fizzled, and white females in the middle voted for Trump, go figure. For swing voters in the middle this was always the election none of them wanted, they didn’t like either candidate, but in the end, they voted for Trump. White women sunk Kamala Harris and elected Donald Trump. Harris apparently never connected with white women to the degree needed to win. The fact Trump won the popular vote says that women in the blue metropolitan areas weren’t sold on her. How much the velvet coup that pushed Joe Biden aside and made her the candidate, has yet to be figured out. All I know is that there’s beer, blood, and broken glass all over the floor of the juke joint that was Kamala’s campaign and nobody’s sayin’ much to the cops…Don’t get me wrong, I don’t feel sorry for her, I’m the one who’s got to eat the goddamn crow, feathers and all… be safe my friends, I’ll see you in a day or so ….
